The Empires are Turning Into Rust Again

Politics during an incurable pandemic. Right-wingers want to break quarantine for evangelical money-making and church addiction. Left-wingers want to end racism and police brutality. The apolitical want milkshakes now! Only one group seems to have a high moral imperative, yet all three are just human all too human, so implicitly biased in protest as to sacrifice their own members to prove themselves right by winning favor of the host gods, whether she represent beautiful justice or he act upon lazy self interest. Humans refuse to follow the headings of science, which is a human invention, which makes the the defiance of science so much more a profound tragicomedy. Aztec priests removing hearts and pushing sacrificial innocents off a cliff. Progressive politicians and civil rights leaders breaking social distance boundaries to infect the poor and elderly for a good cause. Virus or not, we must defund the police now and make sure our maize stores get blessed another moon. Let's kill the babies!

The murder of George Floyd and ensuing uproar will have profound impact on the shaping of the future of our police state. A good beginning for a late liberty. But facts can ruin the best intentions. Because of this pouring into the streets around the Western world, more poor and minorities will die by the sticky barbs of the coronavirus than will have been killed by police in the last 100 years.

We just couldn't stay in place a few more months. I get it. People get bored. We're a social species. Groups needed a reason to push back their anger upon an unmoral virus. There is power in familiarity. Some folks went for ice cream. Some folks went for racial justice. The latter got an expensive baton and tear gas response by their police servants. Department budgets should have committed funds to food and supply delivery to those poor and less able to shelter in place. But several chose to choke people to death instead. And nearly all decided that gassing their neighbors was their groups' best act of defiance to an unmoral virus.

The empires are turning into rust again. My urge to depart from this arrogant, ignorant community is stronger than ever. The us against them mentality has brought America to its knees via the dismissal of nuclear proliferation/annihilaton and dumb ass reaction to a lethal pandemic. It isn't even fun to watch anymore. Whether right or left wing, each connects to the same stupid bird that would kill its own grandmother for a choice worm.

It's the way of the west.

I'm heading east.

From Alan Watts Blues by Van Morrison

Well I've got to get out of the rat-race now I'm tired of the ways of mice and men And the empires all turning into rust again. Out of everything nothing remains the same That's why I'm cloud hidden Cloud hidden Whereabouts unknown
